Become a VOLUNTEER Today!

Do you have interest in volunteering to assist those more vulnerable in our community who find themselves homeless and require our voluntary support services?
Our Volunteer project’s purpose is to establish a trusting relationship. We take time to develop relationships by listening and encouraging service users to engage with other agencies.
Our core volunteers are fully trained in Alcohol Awareness, Drug Awareness, First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, Safeguarding, Addiction and life-saving naloxone training which allows them to provide the best support and help to those in need.

Do I need to complete a Criminal Record check?

We will ask you to complete a Basic Disclosure if you will be interacting with our clients, and you will need to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme if you are working directly with children or vulnerable adults. We also have an inclusive approach to volunteering, and will still consider your application if you have convictions.

Why volunteer?

Volunteers are very important to our project. Our volunteers help us to support far more people experiencing homelessness or bad housing, from providing direct support to our clients to raising vital funds on our fundraising challenges. We really value the contribution of volunteers, and want to ensure that volunteering is a positive experience for you as well! It can help you to meet new people and develop new skills, as well as being enjoyable. It can also improve your health – research has shown that volunteering can reduce your likelihood of getting a number of major health conditions. Finally, it can help you to get a new job – 80% of employers said they are more likely to hire someone who has volunteering experience on their CV.

Will it cost me anything to volunteer?

No! Although we do have personalised uniforms available to buy if you are planning on staying with us for a long period. The uniform prices can be accessed by asking one of the Managers onsite

Volunteer Training

We provide all training for our volunteers once they have been with us for a while. The courses consist of Naloxone Training, Drug Awareness, Alcohol Awareness, Addiction Awareness and First Aid.
We are also looking into further training courses to link in with the criteria of our work.

Do I need to provide references?

No! Although we do have personalised uniforms available to buy if you are planning on staying with us for a long period. The uniform prices can be accessed by asking one of the Managers onsite.

Can I volunteer if I am an Asylum Seeker or Refugee?

Yes! Asylum seekers and refugees are permitted to volunteer as long as it fulfils Home Office requirements, which all of our roles do. Certain requirements such as references or Disclosure checks, may be required.

Can I volunteer if I am claiming benefits?

Absolutely! Volunteering is recognised by the DWP as beneficial experience for those either seeking work or suffering with ill health. Please contact the DWP to inform them of your Volunteer Work and for more guidance.

What support do volunteers receive?

As a Homeless Project Volunteer, you will receive all of the training required to complete your role confidently and safely and a Mentor from within the Project.
